Learn Buddhist Meditation & Philosophy with Ven. Prof. Geshe-la Phelgye
Streamed live weekly from the Buddhist Institute temple, Sundays, 10:00 AM (Pacific Time).
Looking for a Buddhist temple to learn how to practice authentic Buddhism? Everyone near or far who is interested is welcome to join our humble Sangha community. Venerable Geshe Phelgye, a Tibetan Buddhist monk, leads each teaching. Learn Buddhism, and Buddhist philosophy, practice meditation and universal compassion, and pray for happiness for oneself and others for the purpose of world peace. Most importantly, enjoy a peaceful mind amidst the chaos and become a happier person as a result. Sit with us in person or join live via Zoom every Sunday at 10 AM (Pacific Time).
Once again, we ask that everyone who attends the teaching at the Buddhist Institute temple in Spokane wear a mask and practice safe social distancing protocols to ensure everyone’s health. Buddhist teaching and meditation will also occur via Zoom; this way, everyone near and far can participate. You can find Zoom links to join below.

About Our Teacher: Geshe-la
Venerable Geshe Prof. Phelgye, a former Member of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile, joined Serajey Monastic University at 17. To begin with, he received his novice ordination from the senior tutor to His Holiness the Dalai Lama (Kyabje Ling Rinpoche) in 1974. He then studied rigorously for the next 18 years, notably earning his Geshe degree (doctorate) in 1991 as a result.
In 1993, with blessings from H.H. The Dalai Lama, he went on a hermitage retreat in a cave in the mountains of Dharamsala. This is where he would remain for the next five years to meditate and practice the Dharma. In 1998, he founded the Universal Compassion Foundation (UCF) after receiving support and blessings from H.H. the Dalai Lama. Since then, Geshe-la has openly campaigned for vegetarianism and Universal Compassion worldwide. In 2017, Geshe-la opened the Buddhist Institute, a Buddhist temple in Spokane, WA.
