Buddha Purnima is the most auspicious month of the Buddhist Calendar, “Buddha Purnima,” the full moon day in the Indian month of Vaishaka (April”“May) which marks the commemoration of the birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana of Buddha Shakyamuni. The full moon day of the Theravada tradition falls on Saturday, May 18th 2019, hence, Geshe-la took this auspicious, and meritorious time as an opportunity to host a BIG inter-tradition celebration at the Buddhist Institute that included our fellow Dharma brothers and sisters from four other temples and traditions in the area.
Venerable’s and their sangha members from Sravasti Abbey, Wat Spokane Dhammaram, Vietnamese Buddhist Community, and Tsinta Mani Choling all gathered at the Buddhist Institute to celebrate our first annual, Inter-Tradition Buddha Purnima.
